On April 2009, Walker said: "I've spoken with executives at Universal at this point and they're pretty serious about it. They’re developing it. They know where they want it to take place. They want to do it in Europe." A sequel to be entitled Fast Five is to star Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, TJ Hassan, Don Omar, Tego Calderon, Ludacris. Chris Morgan and Justin Lin will also return as writer and director, respectively. Reports have said it will take place after Fast and Furious and Tokyo Drift as both Walker's and Diesel's characters are still running from the law.[citation needed] Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has signed on to Fast Five to reportedly play a lawman in pursuit of the two main characters. Tyrese Gibson will also return as Roman Pearce from the second film. Gibson was approached to appear in the fourth film but was unable due to scheduling conflicts. Ludacris announced that he had traveled to Puerto Rico to be in the film.

Joaquim de Almeida and Elsa Pataky have joined the cast of Universal.s "The Fast and the Furious 5."According to Variety, the cast includes Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.Neal Moritz is producing through his Original Film production company alongside Diesel.s One Race Films.Pataky will play the love interest for Diesel.s character while de Almeida will play a villainous drug lord.Shooting is underway in Puerto Rico with Justin Lin directing. Filming is underway on Fast Five, the fifth installment of the high octane Fast and the Furious series, which means the cast is finally coming together. The sequel brings back franchise drivers Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Matt Schulze, Fast & Furious director Justin Lin, and Sung Kang (Tokyo Drift).

The fifth installment centers on Diesel and Walker as “fugitives being pursued by legendary lawmen,” who will be played by Dwayne Johnson. Spanish actress and Adrien Brody’s ex-girlfriend, Elsa Pataky (Snakes on a Plane), is playing Diesel’s beautiful love interest and Joaquim de Almeida (”24″) is the main villain, a ruthless drug lord, according to Variety. Charisma Carpenter is also on board, presumably a girlfriend of Walker’s character.
